I Cannot Drink the Ocean
I cannot drink the ocean
to prove my worth.
to prove that I am brave,
worthy of salvation, of care, of peace.
I cannot cleave a mountain, nor claim a victory against an oak, I cannot be asked to be this strong merely to prove that I am weak.
But I can cross this day. leave my footprint in the shores of forever, stare down that ocean and call it "friend"
I cannot drink the ocean, but I can hear her purr in her sleep.
